Moon Kingdom

Queen Serenity

Queen Serenity was the ruler over the Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millenium, she also watched over the Earth, and was mother to Princess Serenity. She was depicted as being a good ruler, and during an attack on the Moon Kingdom, she used the Silver Crystal to save everyone, and send them to be reincarnated on the future Earth, sacrificing her own life in the process.

She occasionally appears to help guide the Senshi, and to help them remember who they are and where they came from. – She appears in Spirit form (almost like a Hologram) to the Senshi when they are transported to the Moon, to tell them about their past lives, the history of the Moon Kingdom, and what happened during the attack. After this she appears only once more to give Sailor Moon a new transformation broach and rod. She features the Moon Kingdom Royal Family crescent moon mark on her forehead at all times, and wears the same classic odango hairstyle that Princess Serenity, and Usagi Tsukino both share.

In the Manga, Queen Serenity mentions having saved her spirit within the computer when the Senshi are transported to the Moon. The other three times she appears are all in flashbacks from other characters. She also states that she is the figure known to the ancients as Goddess Selene. – She does not appear in the Live Action Japanese drama, but she does make one appearance in one of the Special Acts. – Queen Serenity is voiced by Mika Doi in the original anime. She’s voiced by Barbara Radecki and Wendy Lyon in the English dubbed anime.

Princess Serenity

Princess Serenity (called both Princess Serena and Princess Serenity in the English dubbed anime) was daughter to Queen Serenity during the Silver Millenium, on the Moon Kingdom. The Guardian Senshi were her closest friends and protectors, (Sailor Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter) and though they each were Princess to their own respective planet, they sometimes lived with her on the Moon Kingdom. The Princess would often spend time down on Earth, though it was forbidden, to see real plants and greenery. Her adventures led her to meet the Earth Prince, Endymion, and to the couple falling in love with one another.

Prince Edymion is eventually killed during an attack on the Moon Kingdom, while he was trying to protect Princess Serenity. (In the Manga, Serenity kills herself afterwards, out of grief) in the anime, she is killed along with her Prince during the attack. After Queen Serenity sealed the evil away, she used the Silver Crystal to send everyone to be reincarnated on the future Earth, to give everyone another chance at life, with hopes that Endymion and Serenity would find happiness.

Princess Serenity is reincarnated on Earth as Usagi Tsukino in the 20th Century. During battles, after Usagi discovers she’s the Princess, she will sometimes take her form when more strength is needed. On occasion (During Sailor Moon SuperS) she will gain a pair of angel-like wings in the form during esspecially climactic moments. Princess Serenity, and Usagi in her form, retain the Moon Kingdoms Royal Family crescent moon mark on her forehead at all times, and wears the same classic odango hairstyle that Usagi Tsukino, and her mother share.

Princess Serenity shares the same Voice Actresses as Usagi Tsukino.

Usagi Tsukino - Sailor Moon

The main character of the series, called Serena in the English Dub, and nicknamed Bunny in the English manga. Usagi is introduced as a normal, well-intentioned but underachieving school girl who prefers to live a normal teenagers life, with her family in Azabu Jūban (A district in Tokyo). Usagi, especially in the anime, is portrayed as being a dumb student, but this is mostly due to her extreme laziness, because she spends more time playing video games (In the manga and anime she is mostly seen at an Arcade playing the "Sailor V" game), reading comics, and eating (mostly sweets, especially cake) than she does studying. She has extremely long blonde hair, and blue eyes.

She first discovers she is Sailor Moon after finding Luna, a talking cat with a crescent moon mark (the mark of the Moon Kingdom) on her forehead. Luna acts as her companion and mentor from the moment she reveals that Usagi can transform into Sailor Moon, Soldier of Love and Justice. Sailor Moon's uniform is originally colored blue, red, and white, but changes as she gets stronger, and gains new transformations. (Super Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon) Through the series and new transformations, she also gets new weapons, and new items that help her transform. Sailor Moon uses the Silver Crystal with some of her attacks. During the metaseries it is discovered that Sailor Moon is Princess Serenity, crown princess of the Silver Millenium Moon Kingdom, daughter of Queen Serenity. She was saved and sent to be reincarnated on Earth by Queen Serenity, when the Moon Kingdom was attacked. There are times still, when she takes on her form as the Princess of the Moon Kingdom. She later learns that she will have a daughter (Chibiusa) and become a sovereign, known as Neo-Queen Serenity, over a new Silver Millenium (centered in Crystal Tokyo) in the 30th Century.

In the anime Usagi is depicted as reluctant to fight against Evil, and is often rescued by Tuxedo Kamen. (Tuxedo Mask.) As the series progresses, she becomes more confident and mature, but occasionally still shows signs of being a bit of a crybaby. In the manga and anime she is given the nickname "Odango" by Mamoru (In the English dubbed anime Mamoru calls her "Meatball Head," "Donut Head," and once "Moon Face." In the English Manga she is nicknamed "Buns" or "Bunny"). The nicknames come from her iconic odango hair style that Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity, and Neo-Queen Serenity share. After many trials, Mamoru eventually becomes Usagi's boyfriend, and he ultimately helps her and the Senshi overcome numerous challenges.

Usagi is the only character to be present for every episode of the anime, every act of the manga, and every episode of the Live Action Japanese drama. In the Japanese anime she was voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi, and Kae Araki (44-50). In the English dub she was voiced by several actresses. Tracey Moore (1-11, 15, 21) Terri Hawkes (12-14, 16-20, 22-82 and all three movies) Linda Ballantyne (90-166) - Jennifer Cihi provides the English vocals for Serena's songs in the series.

Neo-Queen Serenity

Neo-Queen Serenity is revealed to be Usagi’s future form, as a Queen ruling over Crystal Tokyo in the future during the 30th Century. She is given the title "Sovereign of Earth," and also "Messiah of Peace" by Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. She is married to King Endymion, Mamoru’s future form. She became the Queen after warding off a second Ice Age. The Queen is represented as more mature than former Usagi, though still has a few lapsing moments, such as when she signs her name, and sometimes King Endymion's name, with a picture in the letter sent to the past Senshi. – The Queen wears an altered version of the dress Princess Serenity wore in the past, with the shoulder pieces removed and a large wing shaped bow in the back, she also wears a crown. The Moon Kingdoms Royal Family crescent moon mark on her forehead at all times, and retains the odango hair style.

Neo-Queen Serenity is noted to be Usagi’s most powerful form in the anime, in the manga she states that she lost power after becoming Queen; though she still demonstrates quite a large amount of it, even going so far as to revive the citizens of 30th Century Crystal Tokyo. The Queen and King are parents to Chibiusa, or "Small Lady," whom is sent back to the past for training.

Neo-Queen Serenity is introduced in episode 68 of the anime. In the original Japanese anime Neo-Queen Serenity was voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi; while her apendix was removed, Kae Araki (44-50) filled in for her. In the English dubbed anime Usagi/Serena had several different voice actresses; Neo-Queen Serenity was voiced by Terri Hawkes (12-14, 16-20, 22-82).

Earth Kingdom

Prince Endymion

Prince Endymion, called Prince Darien in the English dubbed anime, was the crown Prince of the planet Earth during the Silver Millenium. He resided in the Golden Kingdom that protected Earth from within. Endymion fell in love with Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, which broke the rule of people from the Moon Kingdom and people from Earth never meeting one another. He wears a set of black armor, and usually has a sword at his side.

Prince Endymion is killed in the past by Queen Metalia in the anime, and by Queen Beryl in the manga. He’s saved by Queen Serenity, and sent to be reborn on the future Earth in the 20th Century as Mamoru Chiba. In the anime Mamoru usually transforms into Endymion when Usagi becomes Princess Serenity. At one point, the Dark Kingdom’s Queen Metalia brainwashes Prince Endymion, and he appears in an evil form. He was also reffered to as "Endou" in his evil civilian form, when a man named Motoki was brainwashed into believing Endou was his friend.

In the original Japanese anime, Prince Endymion is voiced by Tōru Furuya. In the English dubbed anime he is voiced by Rino Romano (1-11) and Vince Corazza (66-159, and the movies).

Mamoru Chiba - Tuxedo Kamen

Mamoru Chiba, known as Darien in the English adaptations, is Usagi Tsukino's romantic interest in the Sailor Moon series. When introduced, Mamoru and Usagi don’t get along at all, and only become romantically involved later on in the series. Mamoru's parents died in a car accident on his birthday when he was young, resulting in amnesia and the loss of his childhood memories from his current life, opening up memories from his past life as Prince Endymion. During this time, Princess Serenity shows up in his dreams, though he is unable to identify her completely. Before becoming involved with Usagi, Mamoru dates Rei Hino (in the anime) and breaks up with her after discovering that Usagi is Princess Serenity, the girl from his dreams. – Mamoru is extremely devoted to Usagi, and after two years of dating he gives her an engagement ring at an air port, before he takes a flight. - It is discovered during the series that Mamoru Chiba was Prince Endymion in his past life, the Prince of the Earth. He was saved by Queen Serenity and sent to be reborn on the future Earth. It's also discovered that in the future, he is King Endymion.

Tuxedo Kamen, called Tuxedo Mask in the English anime, is a disguise Mamoru created for himself, to hunt for the Silver Crystal incognito, and to help the Sailor Senshi fight later on in the series. He wears a black tuxedo, complete with red-lined black cape and a black top hat, a white mask, and he carries a cane that he uses as a sword. In the anime he's less powerful, and has no named powers or attacks except for his ability to create an infinite amount of magical roses that can block attacks and distract enemies (his signature is throwing a single red rose, which is also sometimes used to distract enemies), but is a constant force in helping the Senshi through the series. He's also shown defying the laws of gravity by standing on high poles, or swooping into a battle. – In the beginning Mamoru can't control his bodies transformation; his body automatically does it, with much pain on his part, when Sailor Moon is in danger. (After the first story arc, he has control over his transformation.) – It’s also revealed in the fourth story arc of the manga, by Helios, that Mamoru, as Prince of the Golden Kingdom (Elysion), posesses a holy stone, the Golden Crystal; the Sailor Crystal of Earth, in the same way that Princess Serenity and the Sailor Senshi have their Sailor Crystals.

In the Japanese anime series and movies, Mamoru is voiced by Tōru Furuya. In the English dubbed anime, he’s voiced by three different actors. Rino Romano (1-11), Toby Proctor (12-65), and Vince Corazza (66-159, and the movies).

Moonlight Knight

The Moonlight Knight appears only in the anime for the first half of Sailor Moon R. After the end of the first series, Sailor Moon, Usagi wishes to become a normal girl and everyones memories of their Sailor Senshi lives were hidden, including Mamoru's memories as Tuxedo Kamen. Though Mamoru still subconciously had the want to protect Usagi, leading his memories to seperate from him and form into the Moonlight Knight. The Knight had the ability to co-exist with Mamoru, in the same space and time. – After Mamoru’s memories were recovered, the Moonlight Knight becomes a part of him, and Mamoru begins to turn into Tuxedo Kamen once again.

The Moonlight Knight dresses in arabian styled clothing, and carries a saber. Instead of throwing Tuxedo Kamen’s signature red roses, he throws white roses.

The Moonlight Knight shares the same voice actors as Mamoru Chiba.

King Endymion

King Endymion is revealed to be Mamoru Chiba's future form. He's the husband of Usagi's future form, Neo-Queen Serenity, and the father of Chibiusa. His royal clothing is similar in style to his Tuxedo Kamen costume, though his tuxedo is lavender and white in color, and he carries a staff rather than a cane. – When King Endymion first appears in the anime, he's only a computerized image left behind in the Palace. His real body sleeps alongside the rest of the people that fell in the Palace after an attack. He helps the Sailor Senshi and his past form when they come to the future with Chibiusa. (At one point Chibiusa’s small cat Diana comments that the King and Queen like to fake sickness in order to avoid attending meetings and banquets.) – In the Manga, it's shown that King Endymion has never aged because of the Silver Crystals power.

King Endymion shares the same voice actors as Mamoru Chiba.

Inner Sailor Senshi

Ami Mizuno - Sailor Mercury

Ami Mizuno, known as Amy in the English adaptations, is a genius girl who attends Usagi Tsukino's school, and is in her class. She's quiet and shy, and is said to be a bookworm. She is also the most intelligent of the Senshi, and is said to have an IQ of 300, (this was stated in the anime by classmates, but never proved to be correct. Her real IQ has never been mentioned.) Because of this she's usually refered to as the brains of the group. She has a short blue hairdo, as well as blue eyes. Much of Ami's free time is spent studying, or reading. She often gets on the other Senshi about not studying, and can become obsessive when it comes to being the best student. She studies hard to realize her dream to one day become a Doctor, just like her mother, whom she lives with in an apartment. Her parents are divorced, and her father is noted to be a Painter. He never came home from the woods where he was relaxing and painting, but still sends Ami post cards on her Birthday. She shares a bit of his artistic ability, as is seen when she composes a set of lyrics for a song. Despite her bookwormish nature, Ami also enjoys romance novels and pop culture, but is usually too embarassed to admit it. She also enjoys swimming and playing chess to help her relax.

Ami is the first Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon. She transforms into Sailor Mercury, and is given different titles through the series. Soldier of Water and Intelligence, Soldier of Wisdom, and Soldier of Justice and Wisdom. She has control over water in all it's forms, and uses her super computer to analyze enemies in battle, and to help solve various other problems for the Senshi team. The computer works in sync with her goggles, which take in information on surroundings and show them to Mercury as if they were a computer screen. The goggles appear when she presses her earring. As Sailor Mercury gets stronger in the anime, her uniform/transformation changes to reflect her new form as Super Sailor Mercury, she also gains new attacks and eventually the Mercury Harp and her Sailor Crystal, the Mercury Crystal, the source of her power. Sailor Mercury was saved and sent to be reincarnated on Earth by Queen Serenity, when the Moon Kingdom was attacked. - According to the manga, Sailor Mercury was also Princess to her own planet during the Silver Millenium, Princess Mercury, one of those given the duty to protect Princess Serenity in the past on the Moon Kingdom, and her reincarnated form of Sailor Moon on Earth, as a member of the Guardian Senshi. She lived in Mariner Castle and wore a light blue gown.

Ami featured in her own short story in the manga, titled "Ami's First Love." It was originally published in volume 14 of the manga, and was also the only "Exam Battle" story to be made into a "Special" for the anime series. - In the Sailor Moon live action Japanese drama, Mercury was taken over by evil forces, producing "Dark Mercury." - In the Japanese anime Ami was voiced by Aya Hisakawa. In the English dubbed anime Ami (Amy) had several voice actresses. Karen Bernstein (Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, all movies), followed by Liza Balkan (Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS), Shandi Sinnamon provided the vocals for a song attributed to Ami's character in the second story arc.

Rei Hino - Sailor Mars

Rei Hino, named Raye in the English adaptations, works as a Shrine Maiden (Miko) at the Hikawa Shrine (Cherry Hill Temple in the English anime dub), where she has two friends that are crows, named Phobos and Deimos. Rei is often commented on as being beautiful and elegant, but because of her psychic powers, people became afraid of her. She has long, waist length black hair, and dark eyes. She cherishes the friends she has, which consist soley of the Sailor Senshi. - Rei attends a different school from all the other girls, T*A Private Girls School, a Catholic private school run by nuns, where she participates in the Archery Club. She practices Shinto while living at the Hikawa Shrine, with her maternal Grandfather. It's revealed that Rei's mother died when she was younger, and her father is a politician that spends more time on his work than with her, only visiting her on Birthdays. In the anime series, Rei dates Mamoru for a while before he and Usagi are together. She also is ambitious, wishing to one day be a voice actress, singer, model, and also sees herself getting married. (Her personality in this aspect changes drastically in the manga and Live Action, where she has nothing but hate for men, and has no interest in dating them.) - Rei's lifelong goal is to become Head Priestess at the Hikawa Shrine, as a result much of her life is influenced by spirituality. She takes part in meditation, and fortune-telling is a hobby. - Rei has a love-hate relationship with Usagi, who she considers very childish and immature. She often ends up in arguments with her, but in reality Rei is Usagi's closest friend.

Rei is the second Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon. She transforms into Sailor Mars, and is given different titles through the series. Soldier of War, and the Soldier of Flame and Passion. She has control over fire, and is able to use her psychic abilities to sense danger, do fire-readings, and disperse evil spirits. She is also the second in command, under Minako, of the Inner Guardians. As Sailor Mars grows stronger in the anime, her uniform/transformation changes to reflect her new form as Super Sailor Mars. She also gains new attacks and eventually her Mars Arrow, and Sailor Crystal, the Mars Crystal, the source of her power. Sailor Mars was saved and sent to be reincarnated on Earth by Queen Serenity, after the Moon Kingdom was attacked. – According to the manga, Sailor Mars was also Princess to her own planet during the Silver Millenium, Princess Mars, one of those given the duty to protect Princess Serenity in the past on the Moon Kingdom, and her reincarnated form of Sailor Moon on Earth, as a member of the Guardian Senshi. She lived in the Phobos-Deimos Castle and wore a red gown. (It is revealed later in the manga that Phobos and Deimos, the crows from the shrine, are actually maidens from Planet Coronis sent to protect Princess Mars.)

Rei was featured in two short stories for the manga. "Casablanca Memories," and "Rei and Minako’s Girls School Battle." – In the Japanese anime Rei was voiced by Michie Tomizawa. In the English dubbed anime Rei (Raye) was voiced by several voice actresses. Katie Griffin (7-65, 90-166), and Emilie Barlow (66-82.) Sandy Howell provides Rei’s singing voice in the English dub.

Makoto Kino - Sailor Jupiter

Makoto, named Lita in the English adaptations, is strong, and independent, this is seen mostly in her height. She’s tall for a schoolgirl, and is phyisically tough. She transfers into Usagi and Ami’s school, with rumors abound that she was kicked out of her previous school for fighting, leading everyone to be afraid to talk to her. She stands out mostly because of her school uniform, which is different from everyone else at the school, as it’s from her old school, since they couldn’t find a new uniform for Azabu Jūban Junior High in her size. Makoto also has brown curly hair, the style is usually associated with deliquint or tough girls, but unlike them, her hair is naturally curly. She has green eyes. Even with her tough appearance, she’s still a gentle girl, who is prone to romance, and is seen with pink rose earrings and a green hair piece, even when transformed. To futher her masculinity Makoto practices martial arts, but at the same time she’s rather busty, and enjoys cooking, cleaning, and romance novels, and wishes to marry young and own a cake or flower shop. During her time at the Junior High, she even joins the Gardening and Cooking clubs. She lives alone, and must look after herself. (the dual personality provides for self sufficiency) In the Manga, it’s stated that her parents died in a plane crash when she was very young, and she’s looked after herself ever since. (She lives alone in the anime, but it isn’t specifically mentioned why.) Her largest fault is her obsession with cute boys (in the anime). She refers to each of the boys she’s attracted to as looking like her "senpai," (mentor, older student) that broke her heart.

Makoto is the third Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon. She transforms into Sailor Jupiter, and is given several different titles through the series. Soldier of Protection, Herculean Jupiter, Soldier of Thunder and Courage, and Soldier of Caring. She has control over lightning, and some control over plants and nature. She’s the most physically strong of all the Senshi, and is able to stop pillars from falling, and lift a grown man above her head. She also has a lightning rod that slides up from her tiara when it’s needed for attacks. As Sailor Jupiter grows stronger in the anime, her uniform/transformation changes to reflect her new form as Super Sailor Jupiter. She also gains new attacks and eventually The Leaves of Oak and her Sailor Crystal, the Jupiter Crystal, the source of her powers. Sailor Jupiter was saved and sent to be reincarnated on Earth by Queen Serenity, after the Moon Kingdom was attacked. – According to the manga, Sailor Jupiter was also the Princess to her own planet during the Silver Millenium, Princess Jupiter, one of those given the duty to protect Princess Serenity in the past on the Moon Kingdom, and her reincarnated form of Sailor Moon on Earth, as a member of the Guardian Senshi. She lived in in Io Castle and wore a green gown.

Makoto was featured in her own short story in the Manga, "Mako’s Depression." – In the Japanese anime Makoto was voiced by Emi Shinohara. In the English dubbed version, Makoto (Lita) is voiced by Susan Roman. Her character was the only human to have the same voice actress through the entire series. Patricia Tollett provides vocals for songs sung by Makoto in the English dub.

Minako Aino - Sailor Venus

Minako, called Mina in the English dubbed anime, is introduced first in the manga series "Sailor V." There she is awaked by a white cat, Artemis, who tells her Venus is her "mother star," also a twin planet with Earth, and that she must fight to protect the Earth. Minako sees her own past lifes Princess castle, thanks to Artemis, before the other senshi know about theirs. Here in "Sailor V" is where Minako dons her iconic red hairbow, due to a cute boys recommendation. She has long blonde hair, down to her waist, and blue eyes. Minako is portrayed as resiliant, cheerful, athletic and a little romantic. (She retains her personality on the move to the Sailor Moon anime and manga.) – In the anime it’s said that Minako spent a lot of time in England, where she met and fell in love with a man named Alan. During a fire that Sailor V was in, she noticed Alan and her 'big sister' figure, an interpol officer named Katarina, had become a couple. This caused her to leave England and return to Japan. (In the Sailor Moon manga, she has traveled quite a bit, but to Greece and China, never to England.) - At the start of the show, Minako goes to a different school from everyone else, Shiba Kōen. Later on when everyone goes to High School, she transfers into the same school as Usagi, Ami, and Makoto; Azabu Jūban. It’s here that she joins a Volleyball Club. Minako’s favorite class is physical education, and her least favorite (in the manga) are mathematics and English. In the anime, she’s more skilled at the English language because of her time in England. The only other thing she loves almost as much as Volleyball is pop culture. She takes part in audtions whenever she can, chasing after her dream to become an Idol. (In the Japanese live action drama, her character is already a famous Idol) Minako also enjoys setting her friends up and giving romance advice, because of her Senshi title, plus being very boy-crazy herself. Despite this, she doesn’t have much romantic history herself.

Minako is the last Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon, but she was the very first one to awaken to her powers. She transforms into Sailor Venus, and is given several different titles. Soldier of Love, and Soldier of Love and Protection. Instead of deriving her powers from the elemant of her planet, she has powers based around the concept of Love itself. The only metal (planet element) that she uses is in her attacks is in her whip, her primary weapon. – Sailor Venus is the leader of the four Guardian Senshi that have the duty to protect Princess Serenity, though she is still under leadership from Sailor Moon herself. – During part of the story, Venus pretends to be the Princess of the Moon that the enemy is searching for, in order to save Sailor Moon. As Sailor Venus grows stronger in the anime, her uniform/transformation change to reflect her new form as Super Sailor Venus. She also gains new attacks and eventually her Sailor Crystal, the Venus Crystal, the source of her powers. Sailor Venus was saved and sent to the future Earth to be reincarnated by Queen Serenity, after the Moon Kingdom was attacked. – According to the manga, Sailor Venus was also the Princess to her own planet during the Silver Millenium. Princess Venus, one of those given the duty to protect Princess Serenity, and the leader of the group who carried this out, in the past on the Moon Kingdom and in their reincarnated time. She lived in Magellan Castle and wore a yellow gown.

Minako was featured in her own manga series that came before Sailor Moon, titled "Codename: Sailor V." She also shares a special manga episode with Rei Hino, "Rei and Minako’s Girls School Battle." – In the Japanese anime Minako is voiced by Rika Fukami. In the English dubbed anime Minako (Mina) is voiced by Stephanie Morgwenstern (29-82 and all movies), and Emilie Barlow (90-166).

Outer Sailor Senshi

Setsuna Meioh - Sailor Pluto

Setsuna Meioh, called Trista in the English dubbed anime, isn’t introduced as a civilian. During the story she is reincarnated to the present Earth with the rest of the Senshi, where she becomes a University student studying Physics. She’s the oldest of all the Senshi, and is described as being rather cold and lonely. After being reincarnated she is a little less impersonal toward people, but most of her personality still remains the same. She is also depicted as being more sophisticated and mature than most of the other Senshi. In both her Sailor form and civilian form, she has long dark green hair, kept partly in a small bun. Her eyes are a shade of purple. Before her reincarnation as Setsuna, Sailor Pluto kept constant watch at the Gates of Time. In the manga, she is also called the Guardian of the Underworld, and the Daughter of Chronos, the God of Time. She keeps watch at the Gates, and kills anyone who tries to break the Taboo of Time Travel. – Even in her more ruthless form, she still shows compasion and warmth toward Chibiusa, and calls her by her Royal name "Small Lady." She even allows Chibiusa to travel through the Gates of Time, and back into the past, and later allows the Sailor Senshi, Tuxedo Kamen, and Chibiusa to travel to the future to save it.

As Sailor Pluto, Setsuna is given several different titles. Sailor of Change, Sailor of Revolution, and Guardian of Time. Pluto weilds the Garnet Rod, a key-shaped staff with the Garnet Orb topping it, this is one of the three Talismans carried by the Outer Senshi. She has powers over Time and Space, and was given the duty of guarding the Gate of Time by Queen Serenity, who also told her of three taboos that she should never break. She must not travel through time, she must not abandon her post at the Gate, and she must never stop time. If she stops time, she gives up her own life. She does stop time, and as a result loses her life. She’s later reincarnated. – As Sailor Pluto grows stonger, her uniform/transformation changes to reflect her new form as Super Sailor Pluto. She also gains new attacks and eventually the Pluto Crystal, the source of her power. – According to the manga, Sailor Pluto was also a Princess to her own planet during the Silver Millenium. Princess Pluto, one among those given the duty of protecting the solar system from outside invaders, and lived in Charon Castle, and wore a black gown.

In the Japanese anime and movies Setsuna was voiced by Chiyoko Kawashima. In the English dubbed anime Setsuna (Trista) is voiced by Sabrina Grdevich (in the R series, and all movies), and Susan Aceron (in the S series, as Trista Meioh)
